The Centre for Competition and Consumer Policy

The Centre for Competition and Consumer Policy is a specialised research centre within the Regulatory Institutions Network (RegNet). The research at the Centre focuses on three main themes: compliance, internationalisation and the operation of the public benefit test within Australian competition law.

The compliance project explores how and why regulatory compliance arises in Australian competition and consumer policy.

The internationalisation project has five different strands: the regulation of international cartels and the role of small economies like Australia in that process; competition tests in the light of globalisation of business; consumer protection in Australia in relation to off-shore companies; internationally inconsistent product regimes; and intellectual property and competition law and policy in an international context.

The third project explores the effectiveness and operation of the public benefit test as applied in Australian law. The Centre represents a three to six year research partnership with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
